Homework
Homework is work that is set to be done outside the taught curriculum. It contains an element of independent study as it is not directly supervised by a teacher.
Homework can be completed within school, for example, at Homework Club or in the LRC (Learning Resource Centre) when tasks require books, software or equipment not found readily at home. Homework enhances student learning, improves achievement and develops students’ study skills and as such is an integral part of the curriculum.
Homework Timetable 2026-27 (2 week timetable):
YEAR 7
Up to 30 minutes per homework session each week. Over a two-week period (Week A and Week B) each subject will set 30 minutes of homework each week (fortnightly where shown)
English – one piece of homework a week Art – two pieces of homework a term
Maths – one piece of homework a week Comp Science – two pieces of homework a half term
Science – one piece of homework a week Performing Art – two piece of homework a half term
DT – one piece of homework a week RE – two piece of homework a half term
French – one piece of homework a week
Geography – one piece of homework a week
History – one piece of homework a week
Spanish – one piece of homework a week
YEAR 8
Up to 35 minutes per homework session each week. Over a two-week period (Week A and Week B) each subject will set 35 minutes of homework each week (fortnightly where shown).

Maths – one piece of homework a week Comp Science – two pieces of homework a half term
Science – one piece of homework a week Drama – two pieces of homework per topic/half term
DT – one piece of homework a week Music – two pieces of homework per topic/half term

History – one piece of homework a week
MFL – one piece of homework a week
YEAR 9
Up to 40 minutes per homework session each week. Over a two-week period (Week A and Week B) each subject will set 40 minutes of homework each week (fortnightly where shown)

Maths – one piece of homework a week Comp Science – one piece of homework a fortnight
Science – one piece of homework a week Drama – two piece of homework per topic/half term
