Careers Guidance

Good career guidance is the key to social mobility: It is about showing young people, whatever their social and family background, the options open to them, and helping them make the right choices to set them on the path to rewarding future careers.

The Department for Education recognises the importance of high-quality career guidance and has made the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance the core framework of the careers strategy (https://www.gatsby.org.uk/education/focus-areas/good-career-guidance). At Glebelands School we are committed to providing an all-encompassing careers programme and are delighted that our well-developed careers programme places us in a very strong position to meet these benchmarks.

Every effort is made to ensure that our students have access to quality information about study options and are given the opportunity to develop the skills required in order to be equipped for the world of tomorrow. Our excellent independent careers guidance is delivered by Innervate who ensure that every KS4 student has a lengthy 1:2:1 advice session during Year 10.

Careers resources are available in the Learning Resource Centre including brochures, books and DVDs and we subscribe to Kudos, which is used in lessons.

Some of the key events provided for our students are:

  • Year 9 Surrey Skills Fair - preparing for KS4 options
  • Year 10 Work Experience
  • Year 10 Careers Interviews with an independent career advisor
  • Year 11 Practice Interview Day
