Mindworks

Extra support, The Beacon

Sometimes you need support that goes beyond what school can offer — and that's completely okay. Mindworks Surrey is Surrey's emotional wellbeing and mental health service for children and young people, and it's there for exactly that.  We are lucky that they have a space in school, called The Beacon and you can self-refer if you need support.

What is it?

Mindworks Surrey is a free NHS service that helps young people with things like anxiety, low mood, big emotions, and mental health. It's built around what actually helps you — your choices and your voice are at the centre of how they support you.

They have a whole section of the site specifically for young people aged 11 and over, with pages on things like what to expect when you go for support, how to look after your emotional wellbeing, and what other young people have said about using the service.

If you need help right now

If you're struggling today, Mindworks has a page that goes straight to support for that — you don't need to wait for an appointment or go through school first.

How do you get connected to them?

You can talk to your tutor, Head of Achievement, or a Pastoral Support Worker at school about a referral — or a parent/carer can also get in touch with Mindworks directly.  You can also find a self -referral form in Student Services.  Either way, reaching out is the first step, and there's no wrong way to ask for help.
