GCSE Results 2025 - initial summary

I am delighted to share with you the fantastic achievements of our Year 11 students in this summer’s GCSE examinations. Following on from last year’s record-breaking results, this year’s cohort has performed even better – a truly remarkable accomplishment.

Progress measures suggest even stronger performance than in 2024, when we were ranked in the top 10% of schools nationally. Many students achieved 10 or more GCSEs at grades 8 or 9 (the equivalent of A*), and we are immensely proud of each and every one of them.

Particular congratulations go to Sophie Maki, who made school history by achieving 14 grades at 8 or 9, and to Charlotte Lovegrove, whose Chemistry exam score was confirmed to be among the highest in the country.

A number of other students also achieved exceptional attainment scores (the maximum possible being 90, which requires Grade 9s in English, Maths and six other subjects):

Adelaide Jones (90), Charlotte Lovegrove (90), Amy McFetrich (90), Sophie Maki (89), Lola Harewood (88), Oliver Mort (86), Jessica Stone (86), Alex Ridley (85), Ellie-Rose Olney (85), Hannah Poole (84), and Mark Tomlinson (83).

We are also thrilled to see so many students achieving outstanding progress from their starting points in Year 7. Their success is a reflection of years of commitment, effort, and resilience – and of the dedication shown by our teaching and support staff.

Approximately 85% of students achieved grade 4 or above in English, Maths, and Science – a truly excellent result for a fully comprehensive school.

Beyond the academic statistics, this cohort has been a credit to our school community – showing leadership, kindness and enthusiasm, and acting as brilliant role models to our younger students. They have made the most of all the opportunities available to them, and we are confident they will continue to thrive in the years ahead.

We wish all of our students every success in the next stage of their journey.

GCSE Results 2024

Glebelands School is delighted to announce an outstanding set of GCSE results for the class of 2024. These results reflect the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, parents, and the wider school community. This year, Glebelands has celebrated exceptional achievements across all subjects and from students of all academic abilities, further reinforcing our commitment to academic excellence and the holistic development of every child. The strong foundation of creating opportunities, raising aspirations, character building, and our dedication to educating the whole child is what has driven these remarkable results.

Headline Results

  • 32% of grades were at Grade 7 or higher.
  • 9% of all grades awarded were the top Grade 9—a record for the school.
  • 79% of all grades were awarded at Grade 4 or above.
  • 38% of students achieved EBacc

Progress Across All Groups

We are proud to report a record-breaking progress score of over +0.6. While we await validation of this figure, all analytical tools (SISRA, 4Matrix, and FFT) are generating figures above +0.65. This means that, on average, our students have made significantly more progress than expected from their starting points, placing Glebelands in the top 10% of schools nationally.

We are particularly pleased that all student groups—whether boys, girls, low, middle, or high attainers—have shown impressive progress this year. Our SEND students have once again achieved excellent results, demonstrating high levels of progress.

Student Highlights

A special congratulations to TS, who achieved a remarkable 10 Grade 9s. This is an exceptional individual achievement, with only a small number of students nationally attaining a full sweep of Grade 9s.

Nearly one-third of our students achieved 5 or more grades at 7-9, placing this cohort in the top 10% of schools for this measure.

Over 40% of students achieved a progress score of above 1, with five students—EH, WS, HD, PB, and ZC—achieving an exceptional progress score of above +2.5.

Acknowledgements and Thanks

These incredible achievements would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication of our staff, who have worked tirelessly to support our students in reaching their full potential. We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to our students, who have demonstrated resilience, determination, and an exceptional commitment to their studies. Their results are a testament not only to their academic abilities but to their hard work, perseverance, and growth as individuals.

Finally, we would like to thank our parents and carers for their invaluable support throughout the year. Your encouragement and involvement have been vital to the success of our students.
