Pastoral Support Workers
You're never on your own here
School isn't just about lessons — it's about feeling okay while you're learning. That's what our Pastoral Support team is here for.
Who's who
- Your tutor — your first port of call, every time
- Your Head of Achievement — oversees your whole year group and steps in when things need a bit more support than your tutor can give alone, backed by a senior leader in school
- Pastoral Support Workers — a team who work across the whole school, helping students manage big feelings and stay on track
Feeling overwhelmed? We've got spaces for that
Sometimes school (or life) feels like a lot. That's completely normal, and we've got a few ways we help:
- Regulation kits in the classroom — tools your teacher can use to help you calm down and refocus without having to leave the room, so you don't miss out on learning
- Regulation Stations — if you need a bit more space than the classroom can give you, this is a dedicated area with a Pastoral Support Worker to help you reset. Your teacher will let you know if you need to visit this space.
- Wellbeing Room - This is by appointment only with our Pastoral Support Workers so that they can dedicate time properly to helping rather than unannounced visits.
- The Inclusion Room — a quiet space if you need time to reflect or just get away from a busy classroom for a bit. You'll still be supported to keep up with your work while you're there. Again, your teacher will let you know if you need to visit this space. You will have received a warning first in class if this is likely.
None of these are punishments — they're just support, whenever you need it, for however long you need it.
Bottom line
If something's bothering you — big or small — tell your tutor, or ask to speak to your Head of Achievement or a Pastoral Support Worker. That's exactly what they're there for.
