Extreme Heat Update

Changes to school day due to Red Alert for extreme heat

We have taken the decision to shut the school early on both Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June this week. Our Risk Assessment, coupled with the Met Office raising the alert level to Red for these two days, leads us to believe that some students' health could be adversely affected without this step.

School will finish at 1:00pm. This will include some time for students to eat lunch.

  • Year 10 exams will be moved so that they are all completed during Periods 1-4.
    • Tuesday - 08:45 - Option C,11:00 - Option A then no exam Periods 5&6
    • Wednesday - 08:45 Eng Lit, 11:00 Maths Non Calc, Home
    • Thursday - Physics 08:45, 11:00 Maths Calc, Home
    • Tues 30th will now have the Option D exam at 11:00. This is a change
    • Students with extra time may finish a few minutes later on Wednesday
  • Thrive will not happen on Wednesday
  • A decision re: Sports Day will be taken later in the week following a review of the weather.
  • The buses will do school pick-ups at the normal time of 3:15.

We appreciate that at such short notice it may be difficult to arrange any necessary childcare. We have provision at school till 3:15 for any student who is unable to get home. Homework club will not run. Please use this link to let us know if your child will be staying at school:
