GCSE Triumph: Results Surpass Last Year's Record

I am delighted to share with you the fantastic achievements of our Year 11 students in this summer’s GCSE examinations. Following on from last year’s record-breaking results, this year’s cohort has performed even better – a truly remarkable accomplishment.
Progress measures suggest even stronger performance than in 2024, when we were ranked in the top 10% of schools nationally. Many students achieved 10 or more GCSEs at grades 8 or 9 (the equivalent of A*), and we are immensely proud of each and every one of them.
Particular congratulations go to Sophie Maki, who made school history by achieving 14 grades at 8 or 9, and to Charlotte Lovegrove, whose Chemistry exam score was confirmed to be among the highest in the country.
A number of other students also achieved exceptional attainment scores (the maximum possible being 90, which requires Grade 9s in English, Maths and six other subjects):
Adelaide Jones (90), Charlotte Lovegrove (90), Amy McFetrich (90), Sophie Maki (89), Lola Harewood (88), Oliver Mort (86), Jessica Stone (86), Alex Ridley (85), Ellie-Rose Olney (85), Hannah Poole (84), and Mark Tomlinson (83).
We are also thrilled to see so many students achieving outstanding progress from their starting points in Year 7. Their success is a reflection of years of commitment, effort, and resilience – and of the dedication shown by our teaching and support staff.
Approximately 85% of students achieved grade 4 or above in English, Maths, and Science – a truly excellent result for a fully comprehensive school.
Beyond the academic statistics, this cohort has been a credit to our school community – showing leadership, kindness and enthusiasm, and acting as brilliant role models to our younger students. They have made the most of all the opportunities available to them, and we are confident they will continue to thrive in the years ahead.
We wish all of our students every success in the next stage of their journey.
Mr R Mitchell, Headteacher
