Careers Guidance and Education

The Department for Education recognises the importance of high quality career guidance and has made the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance the core framework of the Careers Strategy.

At Glebelands School we are committed to providing an all-encompassing Careers programme and are delighted that our well-developed careers programme places us in a very strong position to meet the new Benchmarks.  The Gatsby Benchmarks can be found by clicking the following link

Every effort is made to ensure that our students have access to quality information about study options and are given the opportunity to develop the skills required in order to be equipped for the world of tomorrow.

Careers resources are available in the Learning Resource Centre including brochures, books and DVDs. We subscribe to two websites, Cascaid Launchpad and Cascaid Kudos, which are both used in lessons. Some of the key events provided for our students are:

  • Year 9 Surrey Skills Fair. Preparing for KS4 options
  • Year 10 Work Experience which take place very soon after Easter Holiday
  • Year 10 Interview with Independent Career Advisor
  • Year 11 Practice Interview

"Good career guidance is the key to social mobility: It is about showing young people, whatever their social and family background, the options open to them, and helping them make the right choices to set them on the path to rewarding future careers."
