GAward winners image presentation evening 2017lebelands School held their annual Presentation Evening on Thursday 16th November to celebrate the achievements of the Year 11 leavers.

The evening started with an address from Glebelands former Head Teacher, Mrs Hutchinson and then the new Head of School Mr Mitchell.

Guest speaker, Mr Andy Smith talked to the students about his community work with disadvantaged young people in Roehampton and other estates across London with Regenerate UK.  He spoke about believing in the potential that lies within every individual to change their lives and in doing so the lives of those around them.  By giving encouragement and practical support to young people they are able to achieve their goals and transform their lives beyond their circumstance.  Positive, personal transformation brings hope to all those around you, which as a result builds communities from the inside out.

Mr Mitchell and Mr Smith then presented every student with their GCSE certificates and awarded prizes for service to the school and community as well as for each subject area. Donations for these came from our community sponsors who include: The Rotary Club of Cranleigh, Roger N Coupe Estate Agents, David Mann and Sons Ltd, Cranleigh Freight Services, The Cranleigh and District Lions, Dataforms Chartered Press, Oakwood Business Consultants, OneForty and Cranleigh Parish Council.

Fourteen students were also awarded additional prizes for gaining eight or more A/A* grades in their GCSEs, which is a fantastic achievement.

Thanks were also given to the parents and teachers who had supported students throughout their time at Glebelands. Head of Achievement, Miss Treverton Jones, shared her memories and reflections of what will be a warmly remembered year group.

The evening ended with a collection for Regenerate UK and £180 was raised for this charity.

The evening was followed by refreshments and an opportunity for students and staff to catch up on the last few months. This was the last time that the year group would meet together as a whole and it was a wonderful evening of celebration.
